Central Arts was founded in June 1986. It is an entirely voluntary and non-profit making association of artists in Central Scotland.We celebrate our 25th Anniversary in 2011 and will launch our celebrations on Saturday 6th November 2010 at the Preview of our forthcoming exhibition in ''The Gallery'', Alloa. This exhibition will run from Saturday 6th November 2010 to Saturday 22nd January 2011.
Annual membership fee is £20. This covers the cost of sending out newsletters etc to members, pay for the annual cost of our website and also to help towards the cost of staging exhibitions.
Membership covers a wide area = Stirlingshire, Clackmannanshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh,
Perthshire, Kinross and Fife etc.
Central Arts also provides the first stepping stone for artists who have been painting for several years but have not exhibited their work before.
It is managed by a committee of 16 members. i.e. - Chairman, Vice Chairman, Exhibitions Organiser, Exhibitions Secretary, Treasurer and Membership Secretary, Publicity Secretary, General Secretary, Equipment Caretakers, Newsletter Editor and Buffet Organiser.
Central Arts seeks to provide a forum for the development of creative activities within the region as well as acting as a channel for information and communication between artists.
Several exhibitions are staged each year in venues within Clackmannanshire, Stirlingshire and Fife. Displaying Original Paintings, Giclee prints, Limited Edition Prints and Repro Prints in both traditional and contemporary styles and in a wide variety of subjects and mediums. Also ceramics, sculptures and handmade cards. etc
Central Arts aims to help, advise and encourage new members who have never exhibited their work before. Several newsletters per year are sent to members. Each one contains information about Central Arts events, forthcoming exhibitions in the area, local happenings, workshops, life drawing classes, arts competitions and a range of art related news.
In 2007 Central Arts celebrated their 21st Anniversary by staging a Charity Exhibition of over 250 Framed Paintings and a variety of other artworks at The Elgin Hotel, Charlestown in Fife.
Dates of exhibition: Saturday 6th October until Sunday 28th October 2007.
This Charity Exhibition, in aid of The Opendoor Trust in Glasgow for the homeless, was extremely successful. Alister MacDonald - Broadcaster, Entertainer & Musician conducted the Opening Ceremony at the Preview. Leading Scottish Artist, Marion Drummond, submitted two paintings to this exhibition as Invited Artist. Marion was a member of Central Arts for a number of years from 1994.
